Foster Kitten Friday - And Then There Were None

And then there were none.

Yep, this was the week. The week any foster kitten parent dreads - and looks forward to. The one with mixed emotions of sadness and loss and excitement and hope. The week when they leave your foster home and get ready to head to a new home. Their forever home.

When the itty bitty foster kittens come into your life, you tell yourself you won't get too attached to them. But you do.

You remind yourself on a daily basis they don't belong to you. But you'll forget.

It'll seem like no one can take care of them and love them like you do. But someone will.

You think you’ll never love any other kittens as much as the ones you have right now. But you will.

You'll talk yourself into - and out of - keeping one or more of them as your own. But you won't.

Because you, as a kitty cat foster parent, are only one little spoke in the big wheel of the lives of orphaned kitties. And when weeks like this one come, the wheel is ready to keep rolling along without your spoke. You've done all you can. You've raised them right. Helped them grow big and strong. Playful and loving. You've made sure they've become good, productive citizens healthy and fun-loving cats. And you've loved them just as much as humanly possible.

Goodbye, Annie Oakley.

Goodbye, Calamity Jane.
Goodbye, Wyatt Earp.
Goodbye, Wild Bill.
It was fun while it lasted.
Gee whiz, you kids grew!

Want to help contribute to the work I do with foster kittens? I have an Amazon wish list right here. These are the things I use again and again, year after year. With daily laundry and frequent cleaning, items have to be replaced often. I’d love anything you’d be willing to send my way!

I can't leave without doing one last Wyatt video. What an adventure we had, kiddo.

Foster Kitten Friday

Happy Foster Kitten Friday from the Wild West Gang! While there were times it did feel like the Wild West, we also had plenty of times when it didn't.

Need a lap cat? They've got ya covered!

Prefer cats who do their resting on a cat tree? Check that off the list.

Snuggle-on-the-floor cats? Yep.

What about kittens who take good pictures? You betcha.

Foster Kitten Friday

Hello from the Wild West Gang! Well, we're down to three. This was the week Wild Bill headed off to find his forever home. It's always a sad day when one of the little foster kitties leaves your home. You've fed them, cleaned up after them, played with them, and loved them. For two months Wild Bill has been part of our family and, while we're sad to see the sweetie go, we're excited for him and his new family.

Just us now
It's always interesting how the dynamics change when one of the siblings takes off. Calamity Jane has now become the instigator. In the last few days she's been in the kitchen sink, made her way onto the dining room table to try and eat sunflower seeds, licked bacon grease off the pan next to the stove, and tried to figure out how a toilet worked.
Annie Oakley has turned into Wyatt Earp's bodyguard. Plays with him, tries to take his prosthesis off (check out his video to see her in action), and moves her body out of the way so he can have a spot to eat at the breakfast plate. And loves him and makes sure he takes good pictures.
Actually, the love has been pretty free flowing from everyone this week. They've been good to Wyatt Earp, and boy has he needed it.

As usual, we have a step-by-step how-to tutorial to go along with it. Originally filmed in 2013 (when I had a cold - and you can sure tell it!) it's still a fun DIY craft to whip up super quick. Foster Kitten Friday - The New Year's Edition

Happy New Year from the Wild, Wild, Wild, Wild, Wild, Wild, Wild West Gang!

It's a new year and everyone is taking on a new role.

Annie Oakley is the thief, stealing a kitty blanket away from me...

and dragging it across the room.
Scratch that. Wild Bill is the thief, taking the tape measure when I was trying to remeasure Wyatt Earp's legs.
Now I remember...Annie Oakley is the jumper. Straight from the floor to the counter-top height table in one swift move. (And barely captured by my camera.)
No, wait a minute. Calamity Jane is the one who is the jumper.
Feet in the air in this picture.
And Wyatt? Well, he's the three legged cat who takes over my keyboard...
and the back of my recliner any chance he gets.

What? Did I say three legged cat? Sure did. You'll have to watch his video to find out more...
